Method

1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt and yeast
2. Add in the milk and water and mix until a dough is formed
3. Break the butter into pieces and add into the dough, mix using hands until incorporated
4. Tip the dough onto a floured work surface and knead for 8 to 10mins
5. Place the dough into a large bowl, cover with a tea towel and allow to prove for 1 hour
6. Once proved, knock out the air and shape the dough into a ball
7. Place the ball of dough onto a piece of parchment paper, lightly dust with flour and cover with a tea towel to prove for 40mins or until doubled in size. In the meantime place a lidded cast iron dish in the oven
8. Preheat the oven to 200C
9. Once the dough had proved, carefully bring out the hot cast iron dish. Pick up the ball of dough with the parchment paper and place into the hot oven dish. Cover the dish with the lid and return to the oven. Bake for 30mins
10. After 30mins, remove the lid from the baking dish and bake the bread for a further 15mins until golden brown
11. Once baked, place the bread on a wire rack to cool before slicing!
